"Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
An experienced international editor, creative and strategic, I am passionate about exploring the world around us, representing varied opinions, sharing voices and getting to the core of a story. An NCTJ reporter, I started out on local newspaper, at Condé Nast Traveller and The Guardian before specialising in women's magazines - and later travel.
In 2005, my investigative reportage exclusives on the rise in sex-trafficking in the UK, self-harm and drug rape, alongside exploring women's lives in prison, in British arranged marriages, speaking with Amnesty about women as weapons in war, alongside celebrity cover interviews, health and real life reports on the world's first face transplant and speaking to those facially disfigured, led to my being awarded PTC New Journalist of the Year 2005. I was a guest panellist on BBC Women's Hour and went on to work as a woman's editor and features director on best-selling weeklies and women's glossies in the UK, Asia and UAE (editions in Dubai, Jordan and Saudi Arabia).
Shining the spotlight, giving a voice, unveiling a story, exploring the sense of a place, its people and culture, understanding a person, driving change for good, all motivate. In 2011, a cover campaign exclusive I'd written in Closer! on exposing underage sunbed misuse as a leading cause of UK U18 skin cancer led to a new Bill being passed in Parliament - the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010 came into force in 2011, preventing U18s using sunbeds in the UK.
Passionate about the power of exploration and adventure, culture, nature, the wilds, exploring oceans and the mountains, I have travelled all over the world, from Paris to the Himalaya, Florence to Chile, Mauritius to Malawi, Asia to Alaska, - and skied to the North Pole to raise vital funds for climate change..
After 10-years in women's magazines and then interiors, I now specialise in creative and immersive travel journalism and storytelling (for the wildly adventurous) - delivering on-point stories that resonate to target audiences. A journalist, editorial consultant and media expert I represent various companies in a PR capacity outlining and implementing strategy. Clients include Thames Rockets, EAHeliski and Swiss Mountain Rescue.
Published in The Telegraph, BBC, Marie Claire, Travel Channel, Emirates 24/7 and many more, recent stories include learning to ride the Cresta Run and reporting on the first Ladies' Grand National in 103-years (BBC Sports), skiing with Mike Tindall MBE to learn about his new charity ski challenge (Ski+board) and exploring family ice-climbing in Austria's Chamonix (The Telegraph).
